NBC's Rock Center with Brian Williams moves to the 8 p.m. CT time slot on Wednesday nights beginning tomorrow night.
In addition to Rock Center's on-air move, Hidden Planet, a monthly documentary series hosted by the network's chief foreign correspondent, Richard Engel, will debut tomorrow on the newsmagazine’s iPad app, making it the first time the network has unveiled content on an iPad app before all other platforms. Exclusive to the app upon release, installments in the series will then appear online a week later at RockCenterNBC.com.
In an unexpected departure from his usual beat of war-torn territories and areas of conflict, Engel’s Hidden Planet sets off on journeys of discovery to find the most awe-inspiring, rarely seen locations around the globe. From the Lost City of Timbuktu to the tunnels beneath the Giza Pyramids, and everywhere in-between, this is a side of Engel - and the world - that you’ve never seen before.
“Since Rock Center launched last fall, we’ve seen that our audience is both watching the broadcast on-air and viewing our stories online and via mobile devices,” said Rome Hartman, executive producer of Rock Center with Brian Williams. “Now, viewers can enjoy the breadth of storytelling they’ve come to expect on the broadcast via the Rock Center iPad app, and Richard Engel’s Hidden Planet is a captivating and fascinating addition to our offerings.”
Rock Center with Brian Williams offers viewers original, smart stories across a broad range of subjects. Anchored by Brian Williams, NBC Nightly News anchor and managing editor, the newsmagazine features a roster that might be considered the "Cooperstown of NBC News." From Harry Smith and Kate Snow to Meredith Vieira, Ted Koppel, Richard Engel, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Natalie Morales, Chelsea Clinton, Matt Lauer and Ann Curry - these award-winning correspondents join Brian Williams in providing a weekly destination for viewers looking for a different take on the world, and on the news.
