MY TAKE: Paducah NBC affiliate's new website is a nice change

Paducah's NBC affiliate, WPSD-TV, has a new website.

The all-new wpsdlocal6.com is, in this writer's opinion, a real pleasure to use. The old site was one of the more user-friendly sites around, but this new one takes it to a whole new level.

Created in conjunction with Broadcast Interactive Media of Madison, Wis., WPSD's new site is simple, uncluttered and, as I said last week in my report on WKU Public Radio's revamped online home, this one is pleasing to the eye. It's not flashy, nor is it gaudy ... it's just right. If there's a particular item or story you're looking for, you don't have to hunt forever. Everything's right where you'd expect.

Here's something I often gripe about, and I'm glad to see that, in this case, it was attended to: Videos included with stories are larger, even without being expanded to full-screen, although they are still a bit grainy. That's not unique to WPSD's site, though. In my experience, videos on Louisville's WHAS11.com are the worst from a quality perspective, although we'd be here a while if I had to list all of 'em with that problem.

Weather watchers will find much to like about the new wpsdlocal6.com, with interactive radar, forecast videos and much more.

One final neat touch that I personally like, being as committed to social media as I am, is the inclusion of both Twitter and Facebook on the site. It's well-integrated and helpful for those who prefer to get their news that way.

All in all, the new site is a solid hit, and I encourage you to check it out!
