Let's take a look at a few items making news across the nation this morning:
SPADER LEAVING THE OFFICE
James Spader, who joined NBC's The Office as eccentric boss Robert California for last season's finale, will leave the show at the end of this season. The AP reports that Spader only wanted to do one season of the show, and NBC obliged him. [AP via TVNewsCheck]
SAWYER, COOPER NAMED FAVORITE "CURRENT EVENTS PERSONALITIES"
Harris Interactive polled more than 2,000 adults recently, asking which "current events personality" was their favorite. And, while NBC's Brian Williams may hold a substantial ratings lead among the broadcast network anchors, he could only muster third place in this survey - ABC's Diane Sawyer was first, with 23%. Anderson Cooper was second with 19%.
Blustery radio host Rush Limbaugh came in first in the "least favorite" category, with 46% of those surveyed choosing him. Bill O'Reilly was the second least-liked, with Nancy Grace taking third. [Mediaite]
LOW RATINGS MAY KILL PARENTHOOD
NBC's Parenthood will wrap its third season tonight at 9 p.m. CT, and it could be the end of the line for the show. Averaging a 2.0 rating, the show has fallen far from its salad days when it got a jolt from NBC's Olympics coverage back when it debuted. [Media Life]
